My design was to artistically respect the national and maritime Japanese flags, as JANOME is a Japanese company.

My design is a heat within a bobbin to represent the textile mill heritage of my home town.

I read on the special website that JANOME means ‘eye of the snake’ so my design is a needle and bobbin with the snake representing the thread.

I chose to honour the Japanese heritage of JANOME by including mount Fuji and the rising sun from the Japanese flag.

For my block I choose to do a patchwork surround with applique design in the centre. I’ve enjoyed using MC15000 techniques.
