Model 53 (Pine 500 type)

Product Information Sewing machine

Small hand-cranked sewing machine, which is said to be the first domestically produced sewing machine is completed.

In Takinogawa, Tokyo, Yosaku Ose founds "Pine Sewing Machine Factory" with Shigeru Kamematsu and Shoichi Tobimatsu.

Model 30 (Pine 100 type)

Product Information Sewing machine

First standard domestic sewing machine for home use is launched. A vertical half-turn shuttle is used for the bobbin thread mechanism, dramatically improving work efficiency.

Company name changed to "Teikoku Sewing Machine Co., Ltd."
"Janome Sewing Machine" registered as a trademark.

The origin of "Janome"The origin of "Janome" (meaning the eye of the snake in Japanese) comes from the fact that the bobbin used by Model 30 (Pine 100 type) had a round shape similar to a snake's eye, so the company's sewing machines started to be called "Janome" machines. The body of the sewing machine also had a snake-eye pattern.

1936

The Koganei Factory, the first factory in Japan for the mass production of sewing machines is completed.

At the request of Masuzou Maeda, a representative of the Imperial Sewing Machine Company (predecessor of Janome), the standard dimensions of domestic household sewing machines are unified, and this sewing machine category is called "household HA-1 type".

The modern exterior designed by industrial designer Jiro Kosugi is selected in 1st place in the "2nd Mainichi Industrial Design Competition", and so started an era of sewing machine design competition between companies.

The appearance of a fully automatic zigzag sewing machine is heralded. Instead of moving the lever and dial by hand, it becomes possible to sew patterns using a part called a cam.

Listed on the First Section of the Tokyo/Osaka Stock Exchange.

Model 670, High Dream

Released to commemorate the Tokyo Olympics. Made of light alloy die-cast, the industry's first in-house production. Weight is half that of a conventional sewing machine.

Technical Research Institute completed in Hachioji, Tokyo.

Imprinter

The first domestically produced device for imprinting embossed characters on a credit card onto a payment slip. Janome's imprinters are also popular with hospitals using embossed patient identity cards.

A computerized sewing machine with enhanced computer functionality. Most built-in stitches in the world at that time.

Electro Press (servo press) No. 1 JP-20.

The industry's first light servo press machine. Janome's environmentally-friendly electrically-powered DC servomotor driven servo press works quietly and cleanly.

COMBI DX (502)

A machine with two functions: straight stitch / zigzag stitch sewing and overlock sewing. Easy to switch between a zigzag sewing machine to an overlock sewing machine by just revolving the turntable.

A 24-hour bath system where you can take a comfortable bath anytime 24 hours a day. Gained popularity with an impressive theme song that started with "Yu, Yu, Yu, Yu Meijin" and became a hit product.

Product Information Sewing machine

The world's first home-use computerized sewing machine with embroidery functions. Janome technology made users' dreams come true and opened up a new sewing machine market in hobby use.

Developed to meet assembly line automation needs. Useful for both screw tightening and temporary screw insertion. Well received for its quality control functions and easy operability.
